Benny Wenda on the Death of Lukas Enembe

Today, On Behalf of the ULMWP and of the West Papuan People we Remember Governor Lukas Enembe. You were a simple man, but you were also a powerful Governor against the Indonesia system that imposed to us in the last 50 years.

Earlier this year, The Indonesian Government wrongly imprisoned Governor Lukas Enembe with the lack of any evidence. This is not new to us. As before Governor Lukas there have been Many Governors and many other leaders who have either been imprisoned falsely by the Indonesian government or poisoned which have led many to die.

Thank you for everything you have done, and for trying too restore West Papua’s dignity and identity. You have left a good legacy for West Papua and throughout Melanesia .

I send my condolences and sympathy to the Family and close Relatives who are mourning today in West Papua and around the world.
