Foreign Affairs Minister Hon. Justin Tkatchenko met with His Excellency Mr. Sumbue Antas, the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Vanuatu to the United Nations Office and other international organisations in Geneva.
During the meeting, Ambassador Antas expressed his deep appreciation for Papua New Guinea’s decision to establish an Embassy in Vanuatu this year. He welcomed the move as a significant step forward in strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two Melanesian nations.
Minister Tkatchenko reaffirmed Papua New Guinea’s commitment to deepening regional ties and enhancing cooperation with its Pacific neighbours, particularly within the Melanesian Spearhead Group and broader Pacific Islands Forum frameworks.
The establishment of the embassy in Port Vila reflects the Marape-Rosso Government’s ongoing efforts to boost diplomatic presence and build stronger partnerships across the Pacific.
